i just love this... it has such a unique look; something between airbrush and charcoal.
yes! and it's strangely evocative but still really vague.. like its a couple of tombstones or trading cards being dissolved.. crumbling and burning in the sun ?

this kind of thing is a great example of why these images are so fascinating.. this might be an exaggeration but i feel like no human would ever draw like this. they just wouldn't make decisions like these.. because none of this really makes sense..
that's exactly it. they wouldn't make decisions like these.. and this applies to various aspects of these images... stylistic, semantic, compositional... huge untapped parts of the possibility space are being discovered like this.. parts that would otherwise most likely remain untouched forever.
agreed. and i feel like this is particularly apparent in drawing. a couple of recent artefacts i think are great examples..

yes! but also this one that you found for example... it's so simple but so sort of strange at the same time.. another example of really strange decisions being taken i suppose..
